Ok here two instances of a similar vocal chant type sound. They're aren't exactly the same but pretty similar.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Pu9EYv1HBc

http://www.zshare.net/audio/18930677ab2f2f08/ (this is a better copy of it as you can't here it too well on youtube)

In the above song in the second bar underneath the main vocal is a whaa vocal type noise.

About 50 secs in the second songs come the swooping vocal chant comes in and repeats for ages.

Firstly does anyone know how these vocal sounds are made? Are they a voice pad of some sort of are they vocals processed in some way, how? Know of anything similar? Where they come from? Trying create something similar myself.

Look for Female choir AAHs or OOHs samples and use those. Use long attack time, maybe add a very short delay or chorus and a bunch of reverb.

You could also synthesize the sound. Off the top of my head I think 2 triangle waves, one of them slightly detuned, and a little filtering, maybe some formant filtering, along with said delay and reverb would do the trick.

Hello,

have you tried to listen to the song "Signs" played reversed?

I think the voice effect you're looking for is simply made of an Ohhh sample (or real singer) with :

* fast attack and quite fast volume decay
* a low pass filter closing at the end of the sound
* the whole thing played reversed!

Have a try!
