automap - cpu/audio glitches

dunno if anyone else has experienced this:

when i have automap (which i'm using with a nocturn) enabled on a fairly average-sized set, i start to get audio glitches...you can see the that cpu meter pops up about 10% when this happens. the problem stops if i quit automap.

has anyone else experienced this ?

yes, i've noticed this when working with automap and my remote zero some thimes.
it sux and now has me rethinking my setup for live gigs.
currently i am still using serato at my gigs out, and ableton at home.

So the cpu problems only happen if the automap server is running? But not if it's closed, even you're still using novation wrapped plug-ins?

like i said, it sux, and my pc never spikes on the cpu memory.
IE never goes above 45% or so

actually, when it spikes it doesn't go that high on the cpu...as i said it pops up 10-20% (up to maybe 45% total)...it's possible that it's actually going higher, but the peaks are so transient that they're not caught by the meter.

(which i realize is exactly what dphouse84 just described)

so...noone else has noticed this ?

it kinda sucks...renders the nocturn next to useless for live gigs, which is why i bought it...

I dont really have any problems with the nocturn or the SL anymore. I did a few versions ago but its been mostly cleared up since then. A trick to make sure things dont lag when doing live PA is to enable the blank MIDI CC templates from the automap server and use those to control devices for live gigs.

I have been getting BSOD crashes on my old PC which had a dodgy video card but now I have a new Quadcore everything works brilliant but I still had crashes sometimes so I uninstalled the Nocturn to see if that would help and I haven't had a crash since.

Anyone else get blue screens of death?

the strange thing is... i'm now realizing it doesn't seem to happen on all sets. i was working on something last night for a couple of hours at least and didn't notice any problems. i then went back to an older set (one where i definitely had been experiencing the dropouts) and they started again. i'm thinking that they may have something to do with NI plug-ins, but would have to investigate.

mneh...the problem seems to lie with the usb hub connection...with the nocturn connected directly to the mac everything works fine.

duh...that should've been one of the 1st things I checked...

bleh...cancel that. problem's still there, even with the nocturn connected directly to the computer.

...i realize that what happened earlier was that i disconnected the nocturn while automap and ableton were both open...after reconnecting them they weren't in fact communicating with each other, therefore the glitches were gone (e.g. none of the automapped plug-ins were responding either).

$#@%@!!!

Yeah I get them occasionally since I installed automap and nocturn. The error comes up as IRQL Not less than or equal, so my suspicion is the nocturn driver. I really need to get off my ass and report that to novation.
