I have a padkontrol, which is cool but I need a keyboard controller and don't have much space.

Was thinking I could get the kontrol49 which would do the job of both - I'm pretty basic in my use of the pad kontrol anyway, just use it to bang out simply rhythms/drum hits

So anyone used both? I see the pads on the kontrol are smaller but assume they have a similar feel and responsiveness?

I don't have the kontrol 49, but do have the pad kontrol and also an Axiom 25. Alot of times, I leave the pad kontrol on top of my speaker, off to the side, and usually put it on my lap when I need to play it. IMO, I'd get the kontrol 49 or Axiom 49 and keep the pad kontrol, since it's a compact and very versatile controller. Then in two months or so, if you don't use it anymore, sell it.

No, totally different pads, even worse then of Novation SL. If you want all in one solution- Axiom or better MPK49.
Had 2 Kontrols49 and 3 of mK. Horrible build quality, micros are silightly better, the Kontrol49 does not even have Aftertouch which is ridiculous considering the price.

The Pads on the Kontrol49 are WORSE than the shitty pads on Novation Remotes?????

Can anyone else confirm this?

sorry to tell you guys, but the akai mpk49 pads are the shittiest of them all, confirmed. but there ia an easy dyi mod that improves them greatly
