I just watched this cool video of a guy playing around with the awesome monome.
Anyhow, he's playing around with two samples, one being The Chemical Brothers 'Block rockin beats'. But from where does the arpeggio that comes in at 1:16 come from, and how can I recreate that wonderful sound?
I understand that it's got something to do with sidechaining and lot of compression, but can anyone give me a bit more thorough help.. I reall want this sound for a song.

Thanks!

Easy.

Its just an arpeggio with a Sidechain compressor on the kick, with a long release.

It's a simple arpeggio with what someone would call slow attack sidechaining, but you can make it sound that exact way just by automating the volume accordingly.

You could automate, but thats far more work. Let the SCC do the work for you.
