I downloaded this last night and had a brief test over some drumloops and it sounds very nice. I really do rate AD and their plugins.

Wow... I could definitely see using this for several drum tracks. This gets the drums all hot and heavy sounding. Great pick up for free. :)

personal preference... I like it nice and simple.

Of course it compresses, but not every compressor works the same, nor are they all capable of producing the same sound.

I have several different compressors and a lot depends on what sound I'm trying to produce and of course what I'm compressing.

I actually think Live 7's compressor is outstanding

I like the compressor too, or should say it is outstanding, but again its just not always the right compressor depending on the sound I'm trying to achieve.

I'll be honest, I hate topics on if a plugin is better than the other, when they're designed for specific purposes. This one, from reading their site is not meant to be your "all purpose" compressor and definitely not made to replace anything, but it serves its purpose for rhythmic pieces such as drums.

This doesn't mean I'm going to drop it on every drum track, but for some tracks, this is perfect and I should mention this does not duplicate the live compressor, but instead stands on its own...

If you don't believe me, download it (its free) and give it a try.

Nice one!
I like this line from the write up :
"Attack and Release: We left off the actual time values, so you're gonna have to use your ears, like the he-men did it in times of myth. "
Hehehe.

I really like it... like someone said earlier its gets those drums tracks nice and hot and it has that in your face sound... I did a A/B comparison with Live 7's comp. and it def has its own place in a mix..... Live's Comp seemed to have a smoother and rounder less distorted more modern Comp with more bells and whistles hence the sidechain which comes in handy..... But AD's Rough Rider has a good old vintage blast sound.... I dig it...

Yeah, thanks for doing the comparison... two completely different beasts.

No sidechain options on this one.

This compressor is def rough (hence the name) and I love that about this compressor. What more can you, its free and useable. :)
