Soundcard for DJ with phono in anyone?

Post by Current » Sat Sep 27, 2008 7:42 pm

Hi.

I'm looking for a soundcard to integrate a record player into my DJ sessions in Live. Something like the ART USB PHONO PLUS V2, but I need 4 outputs.

Any help highly appreciated.

Thanks.

I think the Alesis IO/26 has those features.
You can get phono preamps pretty cheap which you could use with an other sound card though.

Hi Deeply Silent.

That Alesis looks fab. but I need something smaller (and cheaper). Would be great just to have all in one, but maybe a pre-amp is the solution. I'll search around for those.

Thanks!!!

ESI U46SE/ESI U46XL. Phono 4 Phono ins, built in pre-amps, 6 outs...

If you're quick U46SE - BARGAIN!

I've got the original U46DJ and it's unbelievable value for money... Now it's marketed as this thing:

U46 MKII

Thanks!!!!

Can you explain what it is you actually want to do? You may not need a soundcard with phono inputs if you are just tring to route sound from your turnables into Live. You can do this straight from the mixer (mixers have pre-amps built-in)...

Yes, I know I can do that, but I want a simple setup that I can also use at home and I am using a MIDI controller controlling everything from Live (going to get the Vestax VCM-600 when it's out).

I'm running three channels in Live, two virtual "decks" playing wavs/mp3s and the third a turntable input so I can also play vinyls, but controlling the sound through Live. With the new nudge functions in Live 7, it's much easier to sync to an outboard source.

I'm also considering the M-audio Torq Conectiv now...too many choices suddenly 8O ...

These are pretty cool ... phono in, 4 outs ... just what you need ... amazing sound quality as well. Wholeheartedly recommended.

Cardbus version is also available for laptops:

There is also a cheaper version if you are not interested in 'mastering quality' convertors

oooo, would have been perfect, the thing is, I need an USB card because I will use it on 2 different laptops, one only have USB.

Thanks so much for the feedback, still haven't decided where to go. Also have to sell an Echo Indigo DJ first.

ESI Gigaport

^^ Should do the job :-)

I've been working with ESI Maya 44 USB for a while now (2 phono outputs) - the Gigaport has 4 :)

Hi Kris.

I have considered this, but I need phono in (to connect a turntable). I have decided to get the M-audio Torq Conectiv eventually.

Thanks for the feedback all of you.
