How do these sound? I'm thinking about parting with my evolver in favor of one of these guys. It looks like a cheaper doepfer. My only concern is that the available modules are limited when you compare it to a doepfer a-100. But with the weak dollar, I don't know when I could ever afford a doepfer.

There are quite a few modular synth makers still, there's one in the States that has a plan where you pay monthly installments and they keep sending you modules.

The Paia modular sounds good, nice 'n ruff, the mini jacks are shitty from what i've read. There are some vids on YouTube.
Paia has no sounds on their site, just some links to really crappy samples on external sites, some guy has 8-bit samples even can you believe that shit?

i've none myself but i've heard good things from people on the web.
i've got the tube amp kit sitting there i'm yet to build it.
do they sell pre built modules or do you have to put it together yourself?
if it's the latter then you'd be better off hunting down schematics from somewhere and piecing together your own modules. money wise that is.
only thing missing is the front panels but there's resources available for diy'ing those as well.

i have also been looking into building a modular synth. the paia kit probably sounds good and would be a good cheap intro to building a modular but you are limited with its 12 volt power supply in that you won't be able power additional modules. seems to me the whole point of starting a modular is the ability to add on to it. at some point you would need another power supply but you would have alot more growing room if you start with a 15 volt. the motm 900 on the synthtech site will power over 20 moduals.
i am just learning about it but myself so i can't talk about it like i really know what i am doing yet but i have had some emails back and forth with the paia folks about this. i was seriously considering the paia for a bit but am now gonna start smaller and go piece by piece so that i have a better quality instrument.
i recommend looking at these sites
