I think OSC is a pretty good guess, but OSC isn't limited to max, OSC is just like midi, a general standard that can be used by a number of applications and hardware (I'm sure you know that.) Ableton got some C74 guys to come teach them OSC implementation, in return they got Gerhard to paint their offices.

OSC would be great though, create your own GUIs, get and set ANY (I hope) parameter in and out of Live, basically close your eyes, think of the Live sound/control engine then get a piece of paper and draw how you want to control it. max is where your own GUI would come into play, like Hoffman's latest BCR gadget.

I've had blue balls for this for so long I've gone numb over it, kinda like waiting for the Olsen twins to appear in Playboy. with my luck the Olsen twins are actually guys and the C74 collab will result in better video handling.
