I'm waiting for these since January. Let's hope the patience is rewarded.

I have seen a sneak peek of the the Macbook Side panel and it appears that they have dropped Firewire from the Macbooks!!!! WTF ?
Its still on the Macbook Pros and so is the express slot thank god.. I use my firewire everday!!

Yeah the firewire thing seems terrible. Fortunately, My extenal HD has both fw and usb2 ports, but my mixer/interface is firewire, so that sucks.
That being said, apparently, I've heard people talking about something to do with firewire over ethernet (which would obviously require an dapter) but supposedly, the specs allow for that? Who knows...
I was ready to sell my macbook to get one of these new one (mainly because they'll be aluminum, and I hate the white plastic of mine) but I may not now.

The lack of FireWire on the MacBook will stop me from getting one, though admittedly I've got no plans to get a new MacBook and when I do it will most likely be a refurb of the current model. I don't want a MacBook Pro either, far too big for me.
It would be surprising if they have dropped it from the low end MacBook's though, if they have then I reckon they'll implement the Ethernet option instead. Personally I'd prefer a FireWire port to Ethernet, there was a poll on this on one of the rumour sites and FireWire was in the lead the last time I checked (albeit 56% to 44%).

Maaaan, I am glad I ordered one of the last-line MacBooks before they dropped them completely. I'd be sker-rooed without a FW port.
The FW-over-Ethernet is of no interest either, as I have hardwired interent in my house; no wireless for me!
I fear they may have made a minor faux pas with that one.

As the song says: "If that's all there is..." then the real drag for me is that the MacBook Pro has lost the firewire 800 port.

Well it still has the 800 port, just no 400 port... so you could always get an adapter to back convert and then just daisy chain them... but it still sucks, me wants more Firewire!!

apple's stock is dropping, and the hardware is crap built in China.... No offense to the Chinese as people. I find them spiritual, and beautiful, but their government could give a fuck, and they manufacture crap.
I've made a few requests in the feature request forum to:
Port live to linux... How hard could that possibly be?

They had a 52 wk low of 85, a high of 202.96, a cap of 92.26, it opened at 104.79, it is now at 103.10 and fluxing....
I bet a close around 102...
I think it is safe to say, you wont see apple hit a high of 120 in 09, but you might see it drop to 50 or 60.......
Hence a financial crisis. Apple is just like any other company. They need to borrow money, their customers need to borrow money. Computers are not food, cemeteries, medicine, or energy.....
I think the world can do without and or compromise on what PC they buy.....
Maybe I am wrong though....
