I may suggest a career change for you. Look up your local IATSE Internation Alliance for Theatrical Stage Employees. Might take you a while to get steady work, but yeah IATSE. Also 5-pin DIN also used for midi is really only 2-pin + 1 ground wire pin. So learning about midi is about the same as DMX (the similar lighting technology). Most artists rely on SMPTE timecode for lighting, the Motu will reproduce SMPTE timecode based off the MTC from a master clock device. We could have a quick phone call and I could decide if I would be willing to reference you. IATSE LOCAL 13 Minneapolis, MN. Fraternal Greetings.
PS Also get used to addressing numbers in hexadecimal, it's so much handier when it's an octal based system and therefore divides by 8
PPS The systems that run the entire shows, serve up to 65535 DMX devices.

There is stuff like this too, but SMPTE is the underlying technology. Only live rap acts (often) don't use this because a lot of their music is actually live.

Pointing out the obvious usual thing that the thread you are replying to is 11 years old there mate so probably the chap isn't really in need of a solution here.
