Novation Remote Zero SL: Midimapping without Automap

Hi

I use Ableton Live 7 with Reaktor 5 fx on MacIntel. My midi controller is a Novation Remote Zero SL.

I want to use the controller without AUTOMAP.

Automap is great for producing... but less for Live-Performance.

If I got it right, the thing to do is, to select no device no input and no output in Live's Midi preferences. The blue screens on the REMOTE SL are blank.

Then I use the Live MIDI map tool to map faders/potis/pads/buttons.

But what works fine for the faders/potis/pads, does not at all work for the buttons. I assign the buttons, but then when I push them, nothing happens...

Am I doing something wrong?

Can someone help out?

Then another thing: As Fx, I use Reaktor Fx Ensembles. (Moldovers Smartknob Presets >>> amazing stuff!!)

How do I midimap these to the potis of my Novation???

I admit I don't have a clue about NI Reaktor.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

reaktor - right click on a knob >midi learn.

as for buttons, you gotta make sure they're the right kind you want in edit mode - toggle and to send values of 0 and 127 (I think that's how ableton receives button info).

You need to change the endless knobs into absolute ones, Live idiotically filters out endless Midi messages unless you map it to an element in Live (instead of directly to Reaktor). If you want to use endless knob you can put Reaktor into a Instrument Rack and use the Macro Knobs of the Rack for mapping.
