Modifying my wave file - drums

I have a .wav file loop for drums and I want to pick out a couple drum hits in it and adjust the volume. Possibly add some compression.

Not the entire file just certain drum beats in it...

How can I do this?

Thanks in advance

There's definitely more than one way to go about it. You could drag and drop the hits you want to edit onto an impluse MIDI track and adjust them from there. If you do it that way, you'll probably want to to use the volume envelope on the original audio track to silence the original hits (so you're not playing the same sounds on top of each other). Another way (maybe easier) is to split the loop into 2 audio files, but you'll still have to go in and do some volume envelope adjusting so you have one track playing only the drums to be left alone, and one track playing only the drums to be adjusted. From there you can do whatever you want to either track.

So theres a couple ways that I can think of off the top of my head to do it in Live alone. If you have any other audio editing software, I'm sure there are many more ways to do this.

Well I found a tutorial for sound designers that should be able to draw the volume, but the movie shows an Arrangement part? I'm using Ableton 6.0.3 where do I find this?
