To be fair, I think that the Roland Space Echo is a more well know name universally, and also was technically superior to a Copicat, which was regarded as a cheap copy of stuff like the Binson Echorec and Space Echo. Which is why there are many emulations of the Space Echo, such as UAD-1 Space Echo, Audio Damage Dubstation, Taldub and more.
Although the copicat was an effective device for it's money back in the day.

This looks lovely - thanks for the heads up.
The best thing about the original copycat was its wonky sound. If this comes close I'll love it to death.

I'm with you on the Binsen. Both it and the Copycat are examples of late '50s music technology at it's best. I think the Copycat was launched in 1958 (as indeed was I) But the Space echo didn't appear till the mid '70s AFAIK. So it's not supprising that it had superior features/sound. </geek>

I'm assuming then that you didn't look at the other plugs that they make--
They already have a space echo plugin too! And it may be on par with the others you mentioned...

Anyone check out their Space Echo plug? I want to buy a hardware unit; but until that day, software emulation will do. Any Space Echo recommendations?

I'm having great fun with this on my guitar. Very Hank Marvin. Just can't stop myself picking out old tunes by the Shadows.

Why don't U demo it?
Besides this version, the only other "space echo" plugs that I"m aware of are: Guitar rig 3, King Dubby, & the UAD Version. You could also get that boss pedal (RE-20 on the cheap, and there are plenty of delay plugs with space echo settings (i.e. soundtoys echo boy, etc..).
FWIW, I've had great results with using tritone digital's colortone pro on the "Spacey tape" impulse over a delay plug like dubstation. The colortone uses an impulse of the tape from the space echo. It won't make a normal delay change tone the way the space echo does, but it will get you a static version of that tone that is very convincing. Combined with something like king dubby or dubstation, you'll have a very space echo-ish sound.
That being said, the GSi version may be worth the (little) money. It's pretty decent.
