OT:Apple i-lemur'?
Re: OT:Apple i-lemur'?
If I had a euro for every tablet rumor in December, I'd have enough money to buy one whatever it costs. No short supply of tablet rumors but apparently the 7 or 10 inch screen components are out of supply.
At any rate, let me be the first to call dibs on yours come spring cleaning

Re: OT:Apple i-lemur'?
If it's the iTouch platform, then TouchOsc is already here, just needs a few tweeks!
GO VEGAN!!! - Macbook Air, Bass Station II, Some Korg shit, Live Suite, U-He, Audio Damage, Microtonic, Ohmicide, more soft stuffs, awesome controllers, euro rack modular synth,an awesome cat.
Re: OT:Apple i-lemur'?
My ego tells me 10 inchers are pure fiction.
Re: OT:Apple i-lemur'?
I actually heard them mention this yesterday on the news and it was presented as fact and not the usual "rumored". I think they even said a release date of March.
The reason they hypothesized it has taken so long is that both touch screens and tablets have been around for quite some time and comparatively haven't been all that successful. So they're predicting that Apple has been spending some time making this a "must have" item as opposed to just another touch tablet with an Apple logo on it.
I think it's ok to start getting excited now.

This is the first apple thing I may buy!
I don't like apple too much and I don't think they do everything better... however you have to respect them for their good design work - or better you have to condemn all other hardware company for their lack of taste.

Re: OT:Apple i-lemur'?
Ok, a lot of speculation has been made, but in the past two days, a very reliable source (ex president of google China and high member of Foxconn, you know, the ones who make everything for Apple) has said:
Multitouch interface, of course. Probably more that 5 simultaneous gestures, because the iPhone supports 5 and I don't see why this should do less.
10,1 inch screen.
3D Graphics
Price tag: less than 1000 USD. Probably 999, but don't expect 700 or 800.
Aaaaaand..... OS4, it will run iPhone apps, but it will have an adapted software interface that enlarges them to 10 inch.
I know, there have been a lot of rumors, but take this for granted, I've been there, I have a tech blog and I know everything about this, and this is the most reliable info out there, take ir or leave it.
So, we'll have TouchOSC in a 10,1 inch multitouch screen. However, I don't see that as a Lemur-killer, we all know that the lemur is a bit more than just a MIDI controller with fancy colours, like TouchOSC is, but I think that at that price, Jazzmutant will have to reduce the price of the Lemur a little bit if they want to survive.

Re: OT:Apple i-lemur'?
I'm hesitant to listen to anyone who uses skullcandy skullcrusher headphones...
Although I'm curious what market Apple intend to target with this proposed device ? The beauty of the iTouch is it's a glorified iPod and it fits in your pocket. The iPhone; a glorified phone. Those things will sell regardless and so there'll inevitably be homebrewed apps for producer folks seeing as the devices are relatively common. But who's going to buy the 'iSlate' ? Are Apple making it for musicians ? I'm skeptical about that.
At $1k, and with a limited OS and no keyboard - it's not going to put a dent in the netbook market imo..

If you've ever used any of the MIDI control apps on the iphone or ipod touch then you would see what a huge improvement it would be to have the same type apps on a 10" or larger screen.
I'm picturing this thing being tied to the itunes store just like the iphone and ipods and there's certainly no shortage of third party developers doing amazing things for those tiny screens.
Some of us will buy this thing instantly and just like the iphone and ipod touches a bunch more will be swayed quickly once they see what they can do with it.
