MIDI CLIP ENVELOPES: "offset"/"absolute"

Post by radib » Thu Jan 22, 2009 11:25 pm

again, just one button, but so much more possibilities. please please please integrate that as soon as possible. that ain´t so much work... PLEASE!

short explanation, the midi clip envelopes right now do work only in offset mode, means you only can substract a percentage from the current value of a parameter. you can not define it absolute by the clip envelope settings like you can do in the automation function/arrangement view. i really don´t get the idea behind that limitation, but ok. it works like "one way finetuning", "one way" because it always substracts. it would even help if one could switch that around, but imho a button for toggling the clip envelope mode between "offset" and "absolute" would be the far more usable solution/option. in "absolute" mode it would have to be cut from automation to avoid confusion, or just solve that issue by a priority rule (maybe a second trigger ;))

I don't mind how it's done, but yeah, my vote goes for any improvement to the current method of reverse-engineering clip envelopes of all prior clips in order to effect change in one clip (channel sends, for example)
