yeah, I found a similar post the other day asking the same question. That one got a response (though not as terse as yours) that pointed me in the right direction. Knew it had to be something simple that I just wasn't getting.

E-MU patchmix signal delay
I'm using E-MU 0404 patchmix for my soundcard. When I turn on my monitors (or put on headphones) and have Ableton on and armed I hear the outbound signal (out of Ableton) delayed after going in signal. I'm using ASIO strips in the patchmix.. Having the signal coming out of Ableton delayed like this ...
