I got an alesis firewire mulitmix 8 and it is great, standalone mixer or firewire interface for the price of one or the other, great get, these will catch on fast...
this is my first audio interface so im not sure how to adjust for the latency when monitoring in live, there is a little "snap back" sound like a short delay, how do i adjust it...i have tried pref>latency and played around with that, with no avail...

You will always have some latency when monitoring through Live. I have a MOTU Traveler. At 128 samples, I have 2ms of delay, which is not noticeable. You start noticing it when it gets up to 10ms or higher.
To avoid latency, you could always not monitor through Live.
Try to decrease your latency by reducing the samples on your soundcard. Being able to do this without pops/crackles will be somewhat dependent on the quality of your soundcard and the speed of your computer.
The trouble comes in when you are trying to synch what you are playing (while monitoring and hearing other tracks). If you do that, your timing will be off. You compensate for this by adjusting the amount of latency that you have by entering this within preferences. There is a good description of how to determine your latency in the Live manual.
Then there is plug-in delay compensation, but that is a different matter.
Search on this forum, also. Others have done a much better job of explaining this than me.
