OK, firstly I don't think any controller device external to Live can be much help. Whether the pads/buttons light up or not, its no guarantee that a clip is playing. Only Live's session view is to be believed. Conclusion: I get glasses, or zoom in on the session area. Colours is a great idea too ...

Because when I trigger something for the next bar, my audience will hear it is the wrong clip around the same time I realise it is the wrong clip...

I don't want to memorize which button triggers which clip, I want to see what clip ...

I do all my wave editing in Live with Clip envs - then consolidate, crop or render/resample the cli based on what im looking for.

Good idea! I'm thinking of doing without an audio editor altogether and maybe just shuffle files back to my PC for Sound Forge, although I appreciate the suggestions ...

Why don't you like Wave Editor? Have you thought about just getting Parallels and running Sound Forge still? I did that to run Wavelab, works great, no issues at all.

What else is there out there? I want to clean up samples: trim, fade, pencil the odd spike. i don't need mastering or multitracking. Just sample editing, mostly drum samples and no looping.

I love Sound Forge on the PC, but I can't find something similar on the Mac.

Any ideas?

Are these likely to be upgraded and how will I know if newer versions come out? My download has nine of the packs on version 3 and one on version 4.

New MacbookPro owner here, not happy about chucking my 2 year old M-Audio Firewire Audiophile away because there's no 10.5 drivers. Leopard has been out long enough, so the M-Audio box has to go. Do you really need new drivers for EVERY .1 .2 .3 update ??

Can anyone recommend a similar price range ...

I'm getting in touch with my Reason side again. Not bad, not bad at all with freely patchable effects and mastering on the output.

Instrument Rack is interesting - that wouid give me the entire setup in a clip. Whereas splitting it into several tracks for full mixing would make it very hard to move to another project.

Please recommend a drums VST plugin for Live 6 under Windows. I want better routing than Impulse - you can only pick one part out to a separate track and I think it would be great to send several (like a hi hat pair) to the same bus for FX. RMIV can be great - it works perfectly for me in the Orion demo so I'm not just an RMIV hater. I really want it to work in Live 5.
