Roland FC-300 is a great controller but with a free app called MIDI PIPE you can get many midi foot controllers to work if they don't send the right messages, use the other free app MIDI Monitor to figure out where the problem lies.

hi guys. i've also been frustrated by all the crashing but have had success lately.

I've updated to the latest versions of both Ableton Live Suite and Amplitube 3.
I do not have any crashes. I did upgrade to 8gigs ram recently on my macbook pro (i7 running lion latest updates).

actually my mistake, the instructions I posted were for altering the default Ableton behavior of arming only one track at a time. but it should have gotten you to the right place in preferences.

like you mention, your way has some setup issues. but if it works well for you, obviously keep going with it.
From your description it seems complicated for live performance.

I used to have a boss rc-50 for a short while before I discovered ableton live. I got my idea from how the rc-50 is setup ...

I purchased Superior Drummer 2 from toontrack.

i also have the toontrack fibes kit that you can download from ableton.
superior drums are very realistic, especially with the presets.

has anyone been able to get the same results from ableton natively?

using a MPD32 there is a "program change" button that allows you to change instruments in a Kontakt 4 bank directly without having to set up a chain selector.

so you can just load a kontakt VST into a track (without clips) and switch instruments using the MPD32's program change button and knob ...

on mac...instead of using the VST, you have to use the AU version (audio unit) which in the folder directly above the VST.
that's the current solution from IKMultimedia...instead of fixing the vst bug. but the au is stable and works.

support at IK multimedia suggested using the AU (audio unit) version of the amplitube 3 plugin instead of the VST.
so far no crashes.

give it a try if you are an amplitube user. If you haven't bought it yet, I would wait for them to really fix the problem first.
