Its a Max for Live effect which might come close to what you're aiming at. At least I conclude as much from the link you pasted since the VST in there is also in my collection. One of the reasons I build this critter ...

I think it would be great to have a plug-in with Oscilloscope and Output Waveform Preview , that works similar to Mexoscope http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1qPFjEZtlM but better, because Mexoscope is hard to sync with BPM
