i get a similar thing - on pc - sometimes just pressing ctrl-v brings up a serious program error box... 5.0 has stopped working altogether for me too

I've been working on 5.0 for ages (since it came out) and its been just fine , however in the last few days whenever i try and open any .als file it just crashes instantly - serious program error - or even just fails to open in the first place... i just updated to 5.2 and everything is okay again ...
