If the UC16 is too expensive for you, you will probably have a hard time finding something cheaper that's not held togther with duct tape.. ;)
It was fairly cheap when I was looking for it originally, but the places I've found want over £100 for it - I'd probably go the behringer route for that ...

problem with audio cutting out
I'm currently running Live 5.2 to DJ on a MacBook 1.83 w/1GB Ram. I've also got a Behringer FCA202 Firewire sound card for the main audio, and the built-in audio for cueing.
No matter what, everytime I use Live it will randomly lock up and the audio just stops. You can see the levels just drop ...
