Re: Using dummy clips to control looper?

Hey thanks so much for the replies!! Judging by the videos and documentation, ClyphX is just what I've been looking for! This is the kind of control over the functionality of live that I've been looking for, very excited to get started with it. Thanks again for the help guys.

Using dummy clips to control looper?

Hey guys,

So I'm pretty well up and running with multiple instruments/multiple instances of looper, but I'm looking to automate things like track arm/select and, particularly looper functions (stop for instance), through scene changes. I have a handle on audio dummy clips affecting tracks with ...

Re: Best USB-powered audio interface with >=4 inputs and outputs

Hi Ark.

I'm a loser and I love to browse the ol' internet. I also hate studying. This lethal combo brought me to your question. Think I have an answer.

-4 inputs
-4 outputs (2 1/4", 2 digital)
-USB bus-powered
-one MIDI in and out

Re: Thunderbolt soundcards

So I guess after Lion comes out, not only will TRIM be available, but I also shouldn't have to worry about it!!! That's great news all around.

P.S. This thing is soooo fast. Editing video is finally fun ; )

Re: Thunderbolt soundcards

I just picked up my 13" MBP today, the higher-specced one with the 2.7Ghz i7. I'm so pumped. Could care less about the ODD like a lot of people, but I'm sure I'll use it at least once before the computer goes ka-put ;) It's a really nice machine, happy to have a backlit keyboard and considering I ...

Well, Just got my new RME Fireface UC...

and you're not gonna believe it:

It works flawlessly! I purchased a MOTU Ultralite MK3 a few weeks ago and had driver issues with USB on my Dell Vostro 400 tower. It sounded fine, when it worked, but as I'm building a new live looping rig to replace my Boss RC-50 loop station stability was number 1 ...

Re: Will an SSD help sets load faster?

Thanks so much for the quick reply. This is good to know, except for the fact that I'll need to shell out for an SSD ;)

Will an SSD help sets load faster?

I understand that programs will load more quickly with an SSD, but compared to say a 7200rpm drive, will my Live sets open more quickly? My concern is being able to move between sets during a gig as quickly as possible. Almost forgot, this is in regard to a single drive setup from a laptop. Thanks ...

Re: The (Un)Official Live Looping Thread

Hey catsandwich,

I don't see any reason you couldn't run both guitar and synth to the same looper send track. The only real advantage I can think of would be stopping/starting guitar/synth parts individually or being able to set their Pan settings apart in a stereo set up.

Unfortunately, I just ...

Re: Multi-Purpose Transport Button weirdness with a footswitch

Don't think you're going crazy, I've encountered the same MPTB weirdness. I have found using the FC-300 that undo/redo can be reliably controlled using midi (momentary pedal setting) separately from the pedal controlling the MPTB. Probably doesn't help you, but at least you know you're not crazy ...

Re: Looper: Strange behavior

Hey Nailosity,

I had a similar problem and fixed it, helped someone else fix it too, sounds like the same so you may want to try. You're mapping the big multifunction button on Looper:

1. Enter midi map mode and map your pedal/button to the multifunction button.
2. Before exiting midi map mode ...

Re: The (Un)Official Live Looping Thread

Okie dokie,

So my Roland FC-300 came in, unfortunately until I get my new interface I'm stuck running it to the MIDI In on my Axiom 49 (classic), as my MBox 2 Mini lacks MIDI I/O. Speaking of which, the buttons on my Axiom just plain suck...I always have to hit the transport controls multiple ...

The (Un)Official Live Looping Thread

Hi everyone, I thought I'd start this thread (as a continuation of an earlier discussion) as a spot to share Live Looping information. There seem to be a number of people doing this, and it's a difficult topic to search for, given the ambiguities of the words "live" and "looping" on this forum. This ...

Re: Some questions before switching from RC-50 to Live 8/Laptop

I'm so pumped that everyone's beginning to chime in! Something I've been thinking about lately is the difficulty involved when searching for info about Live Looping with Ableton, whether it be searching the forum or youtube. I think it's because 1)Live is the name of the program, so that pops up ...
