Will an SSD help sets load faster?

Post by ItsAllSticky » Sat Jan 15, 2011 12:42 am

I understand that programs will load more quickly with an SSD, but compared to say a 7200rpm drive, will my Live sets open more quickly? My concern is being able to move between sets during a gig as quickly as possible. Almost forgot, this is in regard to a single drive setup from a laptop. Thanks for any input, wanted to know before I ordered my new computer!

Yes. If all the samples and audio in the Live set are self contained (collect all and save) AND everything is running off of a single drive as you suggested, it will load much faster.

How much faster will depend on how fast of an SSD you get. Compare read and write speeds of different models if you can, but even slower ssd's should be faster than any 7200 rpm drive.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. This is good to know, except for the fact that I'll need to shell out for an SSD ;)
