External Midi Clock and IAC buses

When Live is set to sync externally to a Midi clock input, I have found very strange behavior in my IAC Midi busses.

If a Live channel strip is turned on, and the output is an IAC Midi bus, Live continually sends an All Notes Off message out through the bus. Each message corresponds to the incoming ...

Re: Fading out a sample: possible w/in Ableton or use external?

Thanks, invol and grunzlaut. For the (destructive) editing via bounce, I'd (personally) just assume edit externally, it's about the same clicks/elegance/efficiency for workflow and more control, that way.

The Sustain and Release modes in Sampler get close to what I'm looking for, but it seems you ...

Re: BCR2000 in relative mode: setup logistics

Just a follow up, to anyone else who has/had the same question.

I got the BCR2000, and right out of the box, it pretty much functions exactly how you would expect it to. You adjust a value in Ableton with the mouse, and the BCR2000's assigned pot will respond, with LED and everything, going right ...

Fading out a sample, independent of "note-off" timing.

Hey guys,

I've got a 10 second ambient sample which I would like to extract from a longer audio section and use it in samples/simpler with the following behavior:

Note-on triggers the sample.
I hold the note down for longer than the duration of the sample.
The sample automatically fades out (let ...

Re: BCR2000 in relative mode: setup logistics

I think you're right, I'm just looking to make sure the knobs respond immediately, and it appears I can do that with your method 1. I can definitely get by with syncing the midi values using CMD+M.

Do you have an MPD32, by chance? The reason I asked all the questions about the BCR is that I have ...

Re: BCR2000 in relative mode: setup logistics

Trevox,

Thanks for your long and thoughtful reply.

Alright, well it sounds like I just gotta get down and dirty with things. I was mostly concerned with having to program NRPN values and all this crap that is new to me. I was hoping to just flip a global setting to "relative values" and use ...

BCR2000 in relative mode: setup logistics

Hey guys,

There are a LOT of threads on the BCR2000 and Ableton. I've read a lot of them, but I can't seem to get my head around the final answer, with older versions of Live, etc. I keep reading threads and then realizing they are from 2005, etc.

I've got Live 8 on a 2011 Mac.

This is my final ...

Re: Click Track with many changing key signatures

Ah, thanks Luddy.

Not sure if this is what you are talking about, but here's a write up regarding tempo time sig dictated by the scene names:

It appears that if you manually trigger ...

Click Track with many changing key signatures

Dear All,

I have a piece of classical music that I need to learn. It has a lot of changing time signatures, sometimes every bar. 4/4 through 7/16, etc.

Does anyone have any recommendations for programming this? Should I just right click on the timeline in arrangement view?

I recently discovered ...

Preferences for use across platforms: Library and what else?

I'm planning to use Live across platforms using an Ext HDD. Are there any settings that I should change before installing a million packs I just downloaded? Do I just need to change the library location, or are there other preferences which I need to point to the Ext HDD?

I just want to be sure ...

Re: Anyone use Live on PC AND Mac?

Excellent! This is best news I've heard all year!

I use a windows keyboard a lot w/ my mac, anyways, but the Open Apple is always a stumbling block.

Thanks for the drop box link, too. I'm going to look into that..

Awesome, guys. That's great news. Thank you.

(minor side note: I thought FAT 32 is native to OSX?)

Anyone use Live on PC AND Mac?

Does anyone here use Ableton **ON A REGULAR BASIS** between platforms? Not simultaneously, necessarily.

Is it a real bad can of worms? Is there a way to transfer key assignments, and other preferences? I'm very new to Live, so I don't even know what questions to ask, necessarily. Will my workflow ...
