Well i just took the plunge to upgrade to 5 today. I say 'plunge' not cos I didn't want to - far from it, been eagerly awaiting the video and dual processor features. It's just that inevitably a new version of live brings new reasons for crashes!

well the tascam support guy was very friendly, but 90% of the fix came from me self diagnosing. All he said was it should work with Live (mind you Live Support said the same thing) - it seems odd that no one had previously had that mac install upgrade prob , cos i tried reinstalling 3 times on the ...

that's a pain that you;re still getting crashes tho... is it directly the result of / or when using the tascam? since i rolled back i've had no crashes caused by the unit only by other live issues - including operator btw,

After a few weeks of haivng this nightmare I've had a breakthrough. Below is the msg i just sent to Ableton Support on the subject. Hopefully, if anyone else has the same problem then reading this may solve it.

a few weeks ago I upgraded to Live 5 so i could buy the tascam us2400 and use it together. I previously had a mackie control but ended up selling it cos live 4 didnt support control surfaces, then a few weeks later...doh!

anyway i've had about a zillion crashes with us2400 and live together. sent ...

excellent thanks alex saves me having to drag everything else upgrade-wards for a bit longer PT, Logic etc!

well i bought the much touted ReVision software in order to sync Live (4 at the time) to Quick Time. It worked in that yes it did sync the live set but as a rewire slave of course you cannot run plugins - ie instruments, effects etc everything we use to make the music that you'd want to sync to QT ...
