good laptop: sony vaio with a desktop cpu is the best bet for pc laptops.
mac is for peoples who can't make a pc work and for rich kids.mac doesn't crash so it's good for audio.but pc can be a real work horse if you can handle it.
my opinion is go for a vaio if you can it's solid.

If you have Reason, you can load your sample on to a Dr. Rex loop player then save the file the loop as an audio file (wav or aif). You can then use those loops in Live.

Ah, I see. I had not realized that Reason couldn't be a master to Live.
Or are there instances when that's possible?

It seems to work. I was under the impression that Live would work as a Rewire slave if you do that. Thanks for the tip! =)
