Working with Live 2.1.2 and Propellerheads Reason

Post by laughingtiger » Tue Sep 09, 2003 6:23 pm

Hi all,

Does anyone know if there's a way to run Live and Reason together without having them Rewire connected? For example, I'd like to create loops in Reason and then save those loops for use in Live. At this point however, I can't seem to run them independently of each other to be able to hear the loops in Reason. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tig

if you launch reason first, then live, you will get an error message that reason cannot be slaved to live because it was launched first and the two applications work independantly.

It seems to work. I was under the impression that Live would work as a Rewire slave if you do that. Thanks for the tip! =)

Hi laughingtiger,

Basically you're right. But because Reason has no ReWire master capabilities (beside their own interface to ReBirth) you can run Live and Reason at the same time without ReWire like the Dur already mentioned.

Ah, I see. I had not realized that Reason couldn't be a master to Live.
Or are there instances when that's possible?

I just tried it out this afternoon and it works great. Thanks! =)

not sure why you'd want to - press the monitor button in live to hear reason, arm the track and record the loops into live - quicker and much easier - that's one of the best things about using them together, why faff about with rendering in reason and then importing it??? there's absolutely no benefit and it takes longer!
