Hey all,

What are the best combinations for the 4 oscillators for ambient tunes? Should I be using Sine waves? Square waves?

After a few hours of messing about, the sounds that I am making are "eerie" sounding sounds.. whereas my goal is lush pads and soundscapes.

Can I delete the ALP file after I double click on it and it installs into Live 9 or do I have to keep it? They are just in my documents folder.

Anyone with Live 9, can you comment on the sound bank? is it impressive? thinking of getting Live 9 but want to know if the 30gb sound bank is worth it

I don't use Live that much but I just recently acquired some hardware: a keyboard synth and a drum machine.

I'd like to record these into Live rather than Studio One.. problem is I only have a small audio interface.

So basically I would have to plug my keyboard, make a pad, then unplug ...

the synth sounds fine when I'm not running Live so I don't think it is my connections

as soon as I open Live, the sound gets distorted, noticeably distorted

i plugged in my emx into my audio interface and when I open Live, all of a sudden the output of my monitors becomes really fuzzy sounding and I have to close Live and restart my EMX to get the sound back to normal... any ideas?

I just got a EMX1-SD and I LOVE IT! I have an audio interface and Midi cables... not very Live-knowledgeable so could someone help me set this up?

Can I record different parts of a track that I made on EMX1 and add effects and stuff using Live?

I think my problem is sound design within Ableton Live, I find the preset instruments to be uninspiring.. do any of you have any recommended VSTs for this sort of downtempo/ambient jazzy music?

I'm new to Live, ish.. can someone point me in the direction on making a great ambient tune?

I have a cool sounding pad down but what goes into making ambient music? is there percussion? is there a lead? or is it layers of the same pad slightly tweaked?

any help would be great help

I never knew that one could make amazing sounding pads and leads just by using this instrument and manipulating a short sound clip.. I find it easier than say Operator or Analog.. easier to sculpt sounds..

What are you guys' thoughts?
