prefs>warp/launch/record> create fades on clip edges > off

Here is an example of what is happening. The first is the original kick sample, the second is after it's been imported into the arrange view.

*Also, this doesn't happen if I import the kick into Impulse or drum rack.

Did you place the sample in a device, like Impulse?

They typically will cut the input down by -12db and apply an envelope (unless I'm mistaken, someone jump in here if not), so it won't be sounding exactly the same as the preview. If its just placing the file in directly, try turning off warping ...

Previewing samples in the File Browser.

While previewing samples in the File Browser, they sound nice and clean. Upon drag/dropping them into the arrange view, they sound muffled and.. well.. shitty, like I stuck an EQ on there. What is causing this and how can I fix it?

For what it's worth I just did a clean install of windows 7 and ...
