While previewing samples in the File Browser, they sound nice and clean. Upon drag/dropping them into the arrange view, they sound muffled and.. well.. shitty, like I stuck an EQ on there. What is causing this and how can I fix it?
For what it's worth I just did a clean install of windows 7 and Ableton Live. I recall having this problem before but I fixed it somehow, but that was over a year ago.
Thanks.

Re: Previewing samples in the File Browser.
Did you place the sample in a device, like Impulse?
They typically will cut the input down by -12db and apply an envelope (unless I'm mistaken, someone jump in here if not), so it won't be sounding exactly the same as the preview. If its just placing the file in directly, try turning off warping or try a different warping mode, like complex or complex pro. If all else fails, wait for someone else to reply.

No impulse, straight into the arrange view on a new audio track. I messed around with warping options but it did nothing to fix the problem.mikesena wrote:Did you place the sample in a device, like Impulse?

Re: Previewing samples in the File Browser.
Here is an example of what is happening. The first is the original kick sample, the second is after it's been imported into the arrange view.
*Note the waveform even looks different: http://soundcloud.com/writhe/drum
*Also, this doesn't happen if I import the kick into Impulse or drum rack.
