Re: Exported song lacks clarity
This is just a really basic suggestion, but listening to things louder or quieter has a huge range of subjective effects beyond just the perception of volume, including how clear things sound, how airy, etc -- the ear has a varying frequency response according to loudness. So you absolutely have to ...

what fried my audio interface?
Sort of off topic, but I'm hoping someone with some electrical knowledge can explain this. My interface (an audio kontrol 1) was damaged during a thunderstorm and I can't really figure out why. It happened right after a big lightning strike so presumably there was a surge somewhere, but: The interfa...

Re: Is Ableton really a 'pro audio application' ?
700bpm = ~12Hz, i.e. 1 beat every ~86ms. While I'm sure you can do some cool stuff if you have a host that can do this (even at all), I have to admit I find it a little hard to sympathize with a complaint that some program doesn't do this kind of tempo well...I mean, this is barely out of the audibl...

Re: Good headphones on a laptop ?
As always (I think this is like the only thing I post on forums lately) I'll recommend the ATH-M50's, they sound great with built-in soundcards and even better with an external one, I switch back & forth all the time. They also have a really secure (screw off) 1/8"->1/4" plug adaptor f...

Re: How do i make a sond drift into infinity?
I don't know how the effect is called and i am trying out quite randomly the effect rack on some synthesizers on ableton. But i got quite frustrated so i am asking this here. I want to change the velocity. So that i can fasten the sound towards the end or slowing it down. Where is that on ABleton? ...

Re: Zebra 2.5...can you automate the osc by octave?
Edit: a couple more notes from testing this to make sure I hadn't given you crazy advice: it can be helpful to negatively modulate the osc volume with the same mseg, because the envelope won't supply key scaling. Also, the envelope's attack curve will apply only to the first step. Finally, you may ...

Re: Is The Mouth a useful sound design tool or a gimmicky toy?
I haven't spent enough time with this plugin to really get a sense, but I don't think it is a toy. It is pretty complicated, and accepts MIDI in/out for a lot of control. So I guess it at least doesn't have the learning curve/complexity level of a toy, and I have also gotten some pretty cool soundin...

Re: Zebra 2.5...can you automate the osc by octave?
is there a octave range knob anywhere to be found? id like to roll through octaves within the same note...i know you can change the tuning on the global window, but it doesn't work on a note still in the sustain phase, it just works on the next note triggered... can this be done? thanks! Do you mea...

Re: Gate Effect
If what you are looking for is a gat ing effect (as opposed to a noise gate), then for rhythmic gating auto pan with phase set to 0 or 360 can work fairly well. But you might actually just be looking for (clip) envelopes given your description? The gate effect in live is a (pretty standard version o...

For now, the results show that out of the 60% of people that did think they could hear a difference, that realtime rendering sounded better. You can assume whatever you want, but until you actually conduct research to substantiate your theory you can't really be sure. You need to google counterbala...

Re: Recording Vocals (part 2)
Hello Again, I posted about having problems recording vocals recently. Problem was that I was only getting signal in one channel. I was able to find a solution. Here was my work-around. I plugged my mic into a Rane vocal pre-amp that I have with phantom power on. Then I go out of the pre-amp into m...

Re: NI Voucher Free Synth which to choose
I'm having the same debate right now....except I don't really need any of them. At the risk of hijacking, I am leaning towards absynth (I am more towards ambient), but my current question is whether absynth would add much on top of symptohm and alchemy, both of which seem roughly in the same genre, ...

Re: Should the pedal not work when recording midi?
Hey guys, When I record a MIDI clip into Ableton, my keyboard pedal doesn't sustain the MIDI notes. Is there any way to make this happen? Thanks xx More details -- recording in session? what keyboard / midi interface? This should work, and has in the past for me with a korg digital piano through an...

Re: Considering Reaktor because Ableton Suite leaves me cold...
I futzed about last night with both of those actually, and finally found a bass sound I liked with Analog. It just felt like I was compensating for something that shouldn't have to be compensated for. You may want to keep in mind that nearly all synth plugins (and most factory presets) have built-i...
