It's high on the Ableton todo list. Right after the fractal visualization effect.

However for live use i found that a rack with a midi mapped chain selector gives a solid way to selected devices and make good use of the macros.

I agree, Live is becoming to bloated.

I think some of the recent additions like the quicktime support or the 'new' instruments are totally unnecessary.
And it also worries me, because as a programmer I know that every new feature is also a new potential source for bugs.

To get a perfect copy of an effect, instrument or drum rack cell you can ctrl+drag and drop them.

Removing all instruments and midi effects from a midi track and then dropping an audio clip on it will transform it into an audio track retaining all midi mappings.

This can also be done the other way around.

Why would you like to do this?
The Axiom is just a MIDI controller. There is no need for synchronization with Live.
If you experience a delay when recording MIDI you might want to look at the latency settings of you sound card and Live audio settings.

It's my favorite sampler.

I have a T60 which is the predecessor model and the only real problem I have with it is the share graphic memory.
If I have some clips running and I move around certain VST GUIs my sound card (which probably also contributes to the problem) gives my drop outs or a heavily distorted audio signal ...

Also the upcoming Novation Nocturn has endless encoders but I'm not sure if they're detented (I hope not).
