Re: Does Grouping tracks affect sound quality?

ok I just did a test mixing 4 different audio tracks. one group of 4 was sent to a return track and then rendered. the other identical group of 4 were placed into a group and rendered. i then brought the renders back into 2 new audio tracks and phase cancelled them using utility. phase cancelled ...

Does Grouping tracks affect sound quality?

My friend and I are having a debate. Is grouping a neutral operation? He says he hates grouping tracks and that it changes the sound quality. I can't tell the difference. I'll try to do a phase cancel test, but what do you think?

Re: How to open up clips into a new track from a previous track?

nice thats a cool method i've never tried that before....alternatively you can do a 'save as' on your old project and delete everything but what you need for your new project and then drag the .als file from that into your new project. That will bring your 'save as' old proj into your new proj B-)

Re: ABLETON SHOULD MAKE A STRICLY DJ MODE

it would be sick if ableton had a dj mode, maybe even a separate program Ableton DJ, where you can see multiple waveforms at one once, but still uses clips.......to the OP these are the exact reasons im trying to switch to traktor for DJing, but warping all the tracks in ableton, making edits, then ...

Re: How do you make your live set seamless?

All very good. But that would be a DJ set, not a live set.

True, but I think in the EDM world a "live" set in the eyes of the consumer is kind of a mashup of only original tracks (circa deadmau5, justice, daft punk), and not really based on the songs being broken up into stems, since no one ...

Re: any tips on calming the nerves B4 taking stage..

be prepared, have a backup plan, and just realize you're doing it for you and if you're not having fun then you wouldn't be there.

I don't like to get to the venue super early to watch people come in and watch the opening djs. Sometimes its best to just avoid thinking about it too much until you ...

Re: How do you make your live set seamless?

not sure if this has been brought up yet but...., Render your tracks and then DJ them using Live!?!?

does having an incredibly complicated live setup actually make ur set sound better? b/c no one can see what ur doing up there.....also, when u get up to a gig where ur in front of a lot of people ...

Re: Great, basic & inexpensive soundcard for Live performance?

how does the sound quality on the NI soundcards compare to the MOTU ultralite? i have the ultralite too, i love the sound and bring it to tons of gigs but it might be nice to have something a little smaller. Btw, if you have already experienced the ultralite DO NOT get anything M-audio, i had a few ...

Re: Editing Songs for DJing

thanks a lot for the reply! very helpful i was thinking about doing it this way.....i think ill probably just make the edit without warping and then just render without consolidating. I usually DJ using ableton, but I am trying out traktor 2 so i need to render the edits.

Thanks!

Editing Songs for DJing

What is the best way to preserve the audio quality and volume of a track after you have made an edit in arrangement view? Currently, after I make the edit, i will consolidate, set to complex pro and render the channel at 24 bit no dither. I also usually put a limiter on the channel with 0 input gain ...
