You should be able to click on the top bar of your customized simpler and say "Save as Default Preset"

It is possible to scan and store the second device on a track?

I have a rough work around for this where I name the tracks or devices with a specific name or prefix. Then when I query Live for track or device names, I can sort them by prefix, or select them by name and Max can will always use the right one.

In order to crossfade to a different tempo, I generally run a looper on the master with a crossfade inside a rack. I record a loop, fade over to it, launch my new tempo, then crossfade back. Works really well.
