Ive currently got an M-audio FW410 and i had a 2496 Audiophile on my desktop computer that used to do the same.

Does the timing between your computer and 909 even sound out when you swap pattens? - i had it at one point where things sounded alright but the timing difference became obvious ...

The best solution i have so far is to use ableton as the host for the midi information and just send this to the groovebox using it as a sound module but it does feel like it takes away a lot of the functionality of the groovebox and clutters the screen of my ableton projects.
