Focusrite Saphire soundcards or NI Audio interfaces. I personally have the NI Audio 8 as I got it at a discounted price and they're very easy to set up. I have the fast track pro when i first started, it's a bit too basic for what I needed and it sounds like the same for yourself. Hope this helps.

Sounds like a licensing issue to me as well considering it has just be formatted and wouldn't be any conflicts with Live. Like everyone else suggested, try re-authorizing first

Sounds like maybe you have automated the mixer volume by mistake..it only takes one point to count as automation
Expand your mixer volume lane if there is a red square by volume you have automation somewhere on that track

So for all my tracks i have this done and then when i try to adjust the overall track volume on the ...

Also make sure it is USB powered and no need for an external power source. Don't want too many cables.
