Re: Help me understand hardware synth latency in L9

I have it working now. I decided to try making a new Live set just for testing the External Instrument setup and even though it looks like I had the MIDI and audio tracks set up the same way in both projects, it now works. I'm baffled as to why, but I'm not going to argue. Thanks for the suggestions.

Re: Help me understand hardware synth latency in L9

Thanks for your quick reply.

I had been recording with buffer size = 64 and that was giving me about 19ms of delay in the recorded audio.

I just checked and I can go down to 32 without glitching and that gave me about 17ms of delay -- no matter the Hardware Latency setting in External Instrument.

Help me understand hardware synth latency in L9

Hello everyone - I am trying to record hardware synths into Live. My MIDI track has the External Instrument instrument set up and a MIDI clip. Whenever I record any hardware synth there is always some amount of delay on the audio clip -- which makes sense. However, wouldn't adjusting the Hardware La...

Re: Download Drum Machines -- where?

Hi, the Suite 8 Installer Download on "http://www.ableton.com/latest_versions" includes Drum Machines, and all other Instrument Packs, no need to download anything extra. I guess the page should be a little bit more clear about this. Best, Daniel Yeah. I think I figured that out after running the i...

Download Drum Machines -- where?

Hello all - Was a Live 6 user until today when I went crazy and upgraded to Live 8 Suite as an early birthday present. In the email containing my order it says: "?Please download Drum Machines from http://www.ableton.com/latest_versions" What exactly do I download from there? The closest thing I can...

Unloading FLStudio (VST) = crash!

If I delete an instance of FLStudio when it's loaded as a VST in Live 5.01, Live crashes.

System: Sony VAIO FR-130 (Athlon XP 2000+), 1GB RAM, 80GB drive, Echo Indigo, Oxygen8.

Session view recording features

I've been told this isn't available in 4.01 (someone correct me if I'm wrong) so I would like to be able to do the following when recording new clips in session view: a.) get a count-in of a bar or two from the metronome before recording commences? b.) simply get recording to start on MIDI note on? ...

Metronome count-in or start record on MIDI note on?

Okay...this is probably dumb, but in Live 4 when recording new clips (in session view) how can I: a.) get a count-in of a bar or two from the metronome before recording commences? b.) simply get recording to start on MIDI note on? I find that I am constantly selecting events in the piano roll and mo...

Scene naming w/tempo information

Fine peeps at Ableton - I can get a forced tempo change if I rename a scene to say '120 BPM.' I would prefer to get the same thing to happen even if I give the scene a more descriptive name, say 'Verse 3 120 BPM?' Maybe to make it easier to parse, it could have to be delimited something like: 'Verse...
