just wrapping my head around the changes in mapping from Live 5 to 6. Im using an electribe ER1 as a custom controller for Impulse. No problems there, got all the knobs working for each sample etc.

bomes midi translator
virtual midi channels (ie midiyoke)

after much playing around, i found that someone else had already developed a template for bomes that was much better than mine! Set your ER to channel 10, and then you should be able to assign knobs as normal ie the pitch knob ...

Have managed to crack it anyway. Found a script on another forum that was most of the way there.

Certainly is a hassle. But the end result of getting a Hardware Impulse with sequencer is well worth pursuing.
