And i just tried setting the metronome to a slow 6/8 where there are two beats per bar.
But because of what the OP states, Live insists of giving 6 quaver clicks per bar. Its technically correct, but totally destroys the feel of the music so is very hard to play along to ...

A wild guess but are .asd files counted in the tally of the first library?
And did you check you have a .asd file for every sample that got reinstalled?

Edit.. Probably not the problem. I got .asd files for all the installed samples.

Have been installing Live 8 suite (upgrade from Live 7 suite) and am a bit confused over the size of the library created with the various options. Something seems fishy to me.

My Live 7 library had 12,806 files in it (nothing really added from me, just progressive upgrades from Live 5,6 ...

I am running it (7.0.x->7.0.9) on a Gigabyte P35 chipset w/XP Pro SP3 and haven't seen any problems. I just installed the latest yesterday and putzed with it a short bit but I wasn't quite doing what you were doing. Responded fine as far as I can tell.

i've never seen current clip launch buttons available under midi map in each track!! i've used faders to bring clips in/out!! geeeeeeeeee.....

If anyone else missed it, this Launch button only appears in MIDI learn mode. Its directly above the PAN dial of each track ...

you could as well change the global midi channel for your TF preset (different from the channel on the SL) and then re-learn it with midi map

You'll have to do it that way then: save the clips you want to add to the set to a temporary folder, then open the 'set' that was created with the first 20 clips, and add the new clips that you previously saved in the temporary folder. Save the clip, you're done. You can then erase the ...

As in Live 5, if you drag multiple clips at once to the Browser, Live 6 creates a Live set, that can then be unfold to access individual clips in it. You can manage the set the same way to import its referenced sample files into the project or Library.
