Re: It;s a good time to be a Live & Reason user....

The value is insane. Right now, you can 'demo' Reaper host Equator or Cypher 2 etc. and you get full MPE support rewired into Live. Not to mention the rest of Reaper as a package. I'm going to bet Reaper eventually comes out with a VST version after rewire disappears entirely, then we're stuck with...

Re: Catalina will break Live 9

This happens almost every year though after a new OS.

I tend to wait about 6 months or so after a new OS until all of the bugs get sorted out. For a new computer buyer though, I can feel their pain though.

Re: It;s a good time to be a Live & Reason user....

One interesting thing about this is that I haven't realized how far Reason's sequencer has lagged behind. I'm pretty sure alot of Reason only users are upset as the main feature kind of implies to use another DAW. That can be a big investment of money and time. But nowadays there are alot of free or...

Re: Midi note/chord detection

hi all, i am wondering, is there a mac au plugin that can detect what midi notes or chords i am playing, like logic 8 does in the transport bar? thanks, herculano There might be a M4L plugin that does this. I think Reaper might do this as well (but I'm not sure) with a JS plugin or notation editor.

Re: Doing my first re-edits - how much do I need to learn about eqing and mastering?

Hi everyone, I'm just getting into music production mainly to expand out my DJ sets. I play a lot of old Afro latin music. I want to start really simply by just creating my own edits - doing some rearranging, warping some of the tracks and putting on some kicks and possibly the odd bit of additiona...

Re: It;s a good time to be a Live & Reason user....

I missed the part about Rewire being dropped...really? That's a drag because with Rewire you can still use Reason's sequencer if you like. But why bother? Having to flip back and forth between two separate arrangements was always one of the biggest downsides of ReWire. It’s not like Reason’s bare b...

Re: It;s a good time to be a Live & Reason user....

Can someone please explain why this is better than Rewire? I don’t know much of anything about vst and why this is better. Does it free up cpu load? The main benefit (I think) is the VST instance will remember all of its settings and will be recallable from Ableton upon opening project. Rewire requ...

Re: Ableton/Reason Users Help

- Got Cash for only one DAW - Ableton EDU or Reason. - Used The Trials for both DAWS and I'm unsure which to get as I loved them both. - Anybody here that switched from reason to ableton and why? or vice versa. Thanks. I use both. Overall I like Ableton better. More streamlined workflow. Ableton's ...

Re: It;s a good time to be a Live & Reason user....

1 day after I had bought Live, now almost 10 years ago, I bought Propellerhead's Reason instead of Komplete (which seemed to be the common go-to setup) and over the years this combination has never failed nor disappointed. In the mean while I upgraded Live to version 9 (last weekend I got 10 + Push...

Re: Stereo/Mono Consensus

Am running out of inputs on my Focusrite 18i20 with adat too (I like to have everything connected at once), I have most of my synths running stereo, do you guys record stereo too, or just mono, most effects plugins seem to make it stereo anyways, so am thinking I may gain some inputs by switching t...

Wow, this post is Ancient!
In 2003, I was using an MPC 2000. That year I bought my first DAW Sonar 2.2.

I don't think Live was doing midi yet.

Hey all, First post on this forum and I just wanted to take the time to really sort out this situation I'm in trying to record electric guitar. I'm a complete newbie to this process and I'm confused as to how exactly I can get a good guitar sound. The raw recording sounds pretty fuzzy and muffled a...

Re: Looking for online Ableton 1on1 trainer

Hello community, I always wanted to know how to create something and develop over the years in Ableton. I have spent the past 6 months watching free and paid online courses which gave me some knowledge but they all lack of explanation about how to actually gathering all those clips to one song. Any...

Re: Has anyone found a good setting for Ableton Reverb?

The first thing I do is switch to high quality mode. I think it defaults to ECO which is grainy sounding. Other than that the main parameters is tweaking size and decay. Higher size is usually smoother. Then you have the shelving parameters to sort of EQ it and pre delay. It also has a randomize mod...
