Real chords and the chord midi effect
Theoretically, should real chords entered into midi sound exactly the same as if entered through one of the preset midi effects such as "house to go for"? I've been trying to enter chords in myself with the same values as the effects to help me learn some chord intervals but the sound is c...

Re: Is using synth presets 'cheating'?
I remember dealing with this question a lot when I started making music and I feel I wasted much of time by listening to other peoples convictions. The best thing for me to do at the time would have been to use presets and just write the song. Instead I would spend hours tweaking a synth so I could...

Re: Is using synth presets 'cheating'?
I don't myself think that using presets are cheating but I am finding that I'm learning more about making sounds at this stage than I was when using and editing the presets in Analog. Your right that the presets are a good reference point for studying how to make sounds from the neutral/base setting...

Is using synth presets 'cheating'?
I'm currently going through each synth on Ableton pretty much one by one, starting with Analog and am trying to learn best by trying to make all sounds without using preset sounds. It means I'm making less stuff and it's taking me longer but the reason is that I want to learn synthesis and learn the...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine
Recently started using Push, I'm a t a kind of beginner stage and getting Push has coincided with me making some good much better stuff over the last couple of weeks. Coincided being the key word here because I've been a bit disappointed with Push. The progress I've made has been down to study and p...

Confusion over the A minor scale?
Got an issue with music theory here. According to most things I read on the internet, it says that the A minor consists of A,B,C,D,E,F,G, with the "harmonic" A minor having a G# instead of G. However, Ableton Push's scales tool is laying it out with G# at the base and then including A#, C#...

Adding your own samples to sample library +Hot Swap
I had issues (both in Live 8 and 9) with adding my samples to the sample library. In the current version, I can only add my samples to the "places" section, therefore all the stuff in the sample library are Ableton samples. Is this as it should be? It doesn't seem right to me. The most fru...

Re: Midi Track "Gone white" and not playing.
Thanks for pointing that out, I probably did as I had been deactivating some midi clips using 0!

Midi Track "Gone white" and not playing.
Had an issue this morning where my TOM track went white both in the arrangement and instrument sections. It's also not playing any sound. The record arm of the track also looks disabled and is unresponsive. Looks simple to fix but not sure how. Could anyone advise please?
