Re: Possible causes of sudden CPU spikes?
What interface are you using? My Ultralite is getting repaired so I'm using an MBox (ugh!) as a backup and I'm starting to think it's a combo of the shitty MBox 002 along with the USB connection to it. I get my Ultralite back any day now, I'll post the results when I switch back to the better ...

Glitchy and stuttering audio and cpu spikes in 10.6.8
Hi All,
Ever since I upgraded to 10.6.8 I've been having problems with audio on my MacBook Pro (specs are below). I'm always getting cpu spikes, almost regardless of how many (or few) tracks I have, how many plugins I'm using etc. Even a track that sits idle at 10% cpu usage and doesn't go above ...

Did you guys ever figure this out? I'm experiencing similar issues.
Thanks!

Re: Glitching sound while recording (example included!)
For me it ended up that the buffer in my preferences was set too low. I raised it from 256 to 512 and it works fine now

Re: Pan effects without panning Send channel?
Geo: I downloaded and tried your send-pan file but unless I'm misunderstanding something, panning my mono, audio track doesn't pan the reverb send along with it.
The good news is that Henke's true-stereo reverb totally works!!!!! If I set my audio (mono) to 'sends only) and then pan the audio track ...

Re: Pan effects without panning Send channel?
I've posted it to the feature request forum
Geo: Thanks for the suggestion, I'd already tried something similar with a rack but I'd only gotten so far as having two chains, both with reverb and a utility on each setting it to 'right' and 'left' and a macro mapping to control the pan but I realized ...

An effect's pan like Protools
Protools has a pan on the effects send, Live doesn't. I'm able to mimic old consoles that didn't have stereo sends by doing the following:
- Create 2 Sends, One with Reverb panned hard left, another with a copy of the same reverb (i.e. the same settings) panned hard left.
- Use two sends on the ...

Pan effects without panning Send channel?
Hi Folks,
I'm trying to setup an audio track (let's say vocals) so that the reverb is panned along with it. I don't want to pan the send channel itself because I want to be able to send multiple audio tracks to the reverb send and have the reverb panned for them to the appropriate place based on ...

Re: Strip silence would be handy
+1 on strip silences. It's such a useful shortcut for trimming noise out and for quickly making shorter, usable clips from a performance. Just look at ProTool's version for inspiration.

Re: Adjust the pan of one send to another?
So here's a related question. I have a mono track that I'm sending to a stereo reverb as described by Robert Henke:
"To build a true stereo reverb with two independent inputs use a rack with two chains of the reverb, place a utility before each reverb and set one to "left" input and the other one ...

Difference between track pan and utility pan and width?
Hey Folks,
I think I'm very confused. For a test to try and understand what's really going on I have a set with a simple snare hit on one channel and a utility effect in the device chain. What's the difference between the channel's pan knob and the stereo|left|right|swap drop down, the panorama ...

Re: How do you organize your projects/sets?
I use Perforce every day at work and rarely have a problem with it but I don't think it would affordably scale down to a personal, home setting. I could see combining multiple file sets with some simple version control system so that only significant changes to a set get checked in as new files ...
