The chip in the 305cs is a Mobile Pentium 4, so I think chip-wise it's probably OK. I was more concerned about any Gateway service/quality issues.

Gateway M305cs laptop
Anyone making Live music with a Gateway laptop?
I'm looking at the attractive price of the M305cs ($899) and thinkin' it might be the one...
Any Gateway horror/success stories?
Thx,
mg

Edirol PCR-A30 and Live..volume problem
Anyone using the PCR-A30 on PC with headphones? I have to crank the PCR's volume to max in order to get just a barely adequate volume level from the phones. The hardware seems to be putting a cap on my Windows overall volume control. Anyone have a similar issue? Or a fix?

Hi:
Glad to hear you're up and running. I have installed the drivers, etc. And on the Preferences > Audio tab I do have the ability to choose the Edirol drivers, but on the Preferences > MIDI tab, the only choices I see are my old SoundBlaster card. I remain flummoxed for now. Am waiting on a return ...

I know there's been previous discussion of this USB 8-channel-out interface, but I didn't see a direct answer to this question: Is anyone working successfully with this device under Windows 2000? Any problems?

MAYA
OK, Stew, I went back and read some of the discussion from last year about the MAYA EX. Sounds like it's right, but is it still the case that PC users have to purchase the USB ASIO driver separately? And if I do that, will I then see at least a couple of stereo pair outs from Live?
Thanks,
mg

Interesting. I don't know what you mean, precisely, but I've thought it would be cool (and useful) to be able to append simple text notes to clips--to be able to leave notes for yourself to, for instance, help you differentiate between similar clips, to remind yourself of your thinking on a ...

CPU spike
hey Nick:
Thanks much...you hit the nail on the head. It's simply the Ableton reverb using the "long tail" patch. It's interesting: I open the session and, before I touch anything, the CPU's at 43%. Then I delete that reverb, it goes down to 6%. Then I immediately undo that delete, bringing the ...

CPU load 43% sittin' still
Hi:
I have a Live session that puts the CPU meter at 43% just sitting there...i.e., with no audio running and everything turned off. As I understand it, the CPU meter is supposed to be measuring only audio processing. In the case I'm describing, there is no audio processing going on. Once I start ...

Thanks for the thoughts. The simplest solution for me has been just to do the edits I want in Sound Forge (I'm just trying to achieve a simple fade in of a clip) or manage it from the arranger view.
