I'm not sure how this relates to Macintosh computers. I am not aware of any setting that sounds similar to this.Tarekith wrote:Make sure you set processor scheduling to background services:

I'm watching the calendar and I may take the Alesis back. Of course deciding on a preamp is a major pain. There are so many choices. I've looked at the Firepod, but it has no level meters, just a clip light. And it's a rack mount. I don't have any rack in my home studio, and this form factor would ...

How to sync new clips with old
I must be missing something simple here, but I'm having trouble. I've been recording in Arrangement View, but I'm trying to do it in Session View now. I have clips in another track I want to synchronize with. But I don't see how to start recording a new clip at the same instant I start playing the ...

Where are the lessons?
I have lessons from Live 5 on my hard disk, but I can't find any lessons to download on the Ableton web site or on the two DVDs that came with my purchase of Live 6. Are there newer lessons than I have?

Alesis io|26
I'm using a new Alesis io|26 interface too. It has some problems (including dropouts) that they're working on. My own computer is a Macintosh, and I've posted a summary of my problems here:

My problems were worse with the latest drivers.

How loop an AIF file?
When I copy an external AIF file into a clip in Session View, the button that lets you loop it is grayed out. But recordings I make in Session View allow me to loop them.
I can loop them in Arrangement View.
Why can't I loop the files I drag and drop into a Session clip?

The Firebox and Audiofire don't have enough inputs.
On all of the interfaces with multiple inputs, I'm worried about having to set levels in a computer screen in addition to the Live screen. My M-Audio MobilePre works fine for it's few inputs, and I am happy to have level knobs that I can set. The ...

Okay, thanks for pointing that out. I'm not sure it helps yet. I can see that Consolodate creates a new aif file in the edited condition. It doesn't help save disk space though, it doubles the space used by creating a new file without discarding the old one. Really, I'm not trying to be a pain in ...

It makes sense, and I'm no expert. So I hesitate to tell you that you're wrong, but I think that you are.
It looks to me as though Live is saving clip files that are are small indexes into the original recording, and it never changes the originally recorded file. If you look into a project to see ...

I have a wave editor. I use Amadeus. But this seems goofy to me, to have to go outside of Live to edit a file in the Live project. And God only knows what will become of the clip files if the AIF they refer to is edited without their knowledge.
I just thought there ought to be a way within Live to ...

This doesn't change the original recording. It only edits a clip file. My goal is to conserve disk space by discarding large areas of recording time that aren't used. When you edit a clip, you only change a file of pointers to the AIF recording, not the recorded file itself. There doesn't seem to be ...
