dither last, only once, when you bounce down to 16bit.
Simple.
Adding dithering plugins... i think you are making things too complicated for yourself. Are you dissatified with how Live's dither sounds? If not, then turn off the dither on the mastering plugin.

second line of defense against sibilants and pops would be a de-esser plugin. I think maybe there is a preset in Live7's Compressor perhaps, or maybe under racks? Or check www.kvraudio.com

This leads me to belive that there must be a midi command in the midi files/stems affecting the preset as it would for a standard GM player but I'm buggered if I can find it.
You are correct, there is a single blip of data on MIDI CC#0 for each instrument (except drums)

Ableton is set to EXT, as is my Korg Electibe. My midi controller (Korg microKontrol) is sending the clock.
Try using Live as the master, and slave the mikro and electribes to it. Then see if stuff improves. No Warping should be done at all... all you will need to do is adjust the sample start ...

I've used the midi mapping tool, but that only seems to let me define hardware controls to modulate Live functions. I can't figure out how to set up a virtual knob/switch etc in Live to modulate my hardware via CC to midi out.
