I’m guessing those black rooster plugins aren’t yet Catalina compatible. There are free amp sims out there that are though. Bias FX has a free le version that I believe works on Catalina.

I concur with the above - you can cover a lotta ground with Lite and then there some truly great free vsts out there that can cover the rest.

I think Ableton needs to add a good reverb. It makes such a gigantic difference. The current one sounds horrible and it made me think Ableton was dull and uninteresting. Then I chucked a Valhalla Room reverb and the difference is night and day. I even downloaded Komplete Start and used the Guitar ...

Am running out of inputs on my Focusrite 18i20 with adat too (I like to have everything connected at once), I have most of my synths running stereo, do you guys record stereo too, or just mono, most effects plugins seem to make it stereo anyways, so am thinking I may gain some inputs by switching ...

If money’s no object, get suite now. Otherwise I’d wait for a sale. Whether to go standard or advanced depends on your feature needs. If you have no other synths/vst instruments then I say go with suite and just play in the Ableton sandbox until you get your feet - it might be all you ever need ...
