im having problems with directshow as well, but im not about to hack all my mp3's up. obviously theres got to be a better way than converting every song that doesnt work...

but i thought the default decoder was quicktime. does vista really degrade the quality of the audio even if its decoded through quicktime? or will it only decode through directshow on vista?

im running vista and have been trying to get ableton to run ok on my system. the problem is that when i load certain mp3s it decodes them with tiny little dropouts and cuts in the audio. i have done a lot of tinkering to isolate the problem and have come to the conclusion it is not my sound driver ...
