MIDI from YAMAHA DTXplorer

Looking to use the midi out on the yamaha digital kit to fire off samples in ableton. Does not appear like i can assign the pads on Drum KIT or impluse to be triggered by the midi input from the kit. Can create individual audio tracks to be triggered by the kit but this is not velocity sensitive. an...

Re: M-audio Project mix i/o alternative

As soon as i finished uni 6 years ago i saved up my $3000 aus and bought a project mix. It still works brilliantly and is the core to my studio. workflow improved and it is just a brilliant little unit. the only problem that i have is that my studio has surpassed the 8 analogue inputs and i need mor...

Learn a bit about subtractive synthesis (its all about subtractive synthesis) and then get operator. It really is a very powerful instrument. to actually learn how to make a particular sound there is a multitude of tutorials available on you tube.

Re: Best DJ/Production Headphones?

HD 25 all the way for dj ing and performing. the replaceablility of most parts is a big benefit. i dont like them to much for production as they tend to be more base heavy and things sound a bit different when you move from working in headphones to studio monitors I am away from the studio a lot due...

Re: stamina for producing full songs

I used to get tracks very close to finished and they would sit for ages almost done and not quite. the result was that i literally had no results for my work. so this is maybe a technique for a bit further down the track for finishing a track before you start or send off for mastering. when im at a ...

Re: Using Live feels like cheating

using midi and soft synths can never replace the recording of a real guitar, violin, rhodes (and many other instruments). anyone who tells you otherwise i think doesnt know what they are talking about. there are just to many variables to the sound that comes out of a guitar that means that every sin...
