I've tried everything. I've come to the conclusion that the VC8 is dead. Pretty damn annoyed but o well.

Hi twisted, switched the clock to optical instead of internal. Already had the mode to ADAT and the analog input mode to 1-8, and the lightpipes from out to in and vise versa. Sadly, still no joy.

Tried another optical cable and still producing the same problem.

I'm thinking that it's to do with synchronicity. The Fostex manual states that I could either use the internal clock or use the word clock. I'm using the internal clock because there is no word out for the 1212m.

I'm really not sure ...

I've setup the patchmix the way you have said and still no joy.

I know it is the Fostex for sure now. But I don't have a clue as to what it could be. I'll do some research on it.

I have got as far as setting up the ASIO sending to ADAT outputs, but I will set it up tonight after work and get back to you.

Yep I have got ableton sending to the asio outputs fine now, and the peak meters are detecting the signals.

I think my problem now lies with the VC-8 adat/analog converter. I have it hooked up to my mixing desk and all I am hearing is a very high frequency.

Right, I have figured out how to route to the ASIO rather than the Wave strips. I didn't use the EMU Asio, I was using the ASIO for all. I feel much better now that has been sorted out now.
